No. 22 Lynchburg Men’s Basketball Outlasts Emory & Henry, 87-73, Wednesday In ODAC Action

EMORY, Va. – The No. 22 University of Lynchburg Men's Basketball Team (14-1, 5-1 ODAC) saw four players reach double figures in scoring as it earned an 87-73 win over Emory & Henry College (9-6, 2-4 ODAC) Wednesday evening. The Hornets remain one of three teams in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with one league loss on the season.

How It Happened
- Lynchburg jumped out to a 16-7 lead at the 15:39 mark of the first half and pushed the margin to 20-9 a minute and a half later. The Wasps went on a 14-0 run to take the lead, 23-20, but the Hornets responded to reclaim the advantage.
- The visitors would take a 41-36 lead into the locker room after scoring six of the final seven points of the half.
- Coming out of the break, Lynchburg ran its lead out to, 47-40, but could not break away as E&H cut it to three (50-47). It remained a three-possession contest for much of the half until the Wasps trimmed the margin to 71-66 with 5:03 to play.
- The Hornets scored the next 14 points to take control and lead, 85-66, with 3:11 left but the Wasps finished on a 7-2 run for the final 87-73 score.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Tharon Suggs (Raleigh, N.C.) led all players with a career-high 29 points, his fifth time reaching the 20-point mark this season.
- Senior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) had 14 points and 14 rebounds to complete the double-double while junior guard Daniel Spencer (Concord, N.C.) had nine points, four rebounds, five steals and three assists off the bench.

Lynchburg Individual Leaders
- Connor Schroeder paced the Hornets with 25 points and 12 rebounds while T.C. Thacker added 16 points and five boards.
- Devante' Young totaled 14 points, five assists and four rebounds while Austin Wrighten put up 13 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals.  

 A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 28-of-69 (40.6%) for the game and made seven three-pointers.
- Lynchburg went 54.2 percent (32-of-59) for the game with 10 makes from long range.
- The Hornets held a 39-30 rebounding advantage but the Wasps posted a 12-7 lead on second-chance points with 14 offensive boards.
- Lynchburg scored 22 points off 12 E&H turnovers while the Wasps managed just 14 points off 18 Hornet miscues.
- The Hornets also held a 38-28 lead on points in the paint.
