Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Defeats Ferrum, 85-69, Behind Strong Second Half Wednesday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (14-6, 7-4 ODAC) used a 26-6 second-half run to pull away Ferrum College (4-16, 3-8 ODAC) in Old Dominion Athletic Confernence action Wednesday. The 85-69 victory made it five straight wins for the Wasps, who have put themselves in a strong position entering the final stretch of league play.

How It Happened
- E&H jumped out to an 8-2 lead through the first three minutes of the game, but FC closed the gap to 13-11 with 13:42 on the clock. With the score tied at 19-all, the Wasps were able to push out to a 33-25 lead but the Panthers closed the margin to 33-30 at the half.
- The squads went back and forth early in the second half for a 39-39 score. Emory & Henry got the next nine points to lead, 48-39, but Ferrum responded to close down to 50-48.
- The Wasps' offense then hit its stride, putting together a 26-6 run which covered nine minutes and took complete control of the contest, 76-54.
- E&H and FC battled to the end, going basket for basket as Emory & Henry earned the rivalry win, 85-69.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior guard Jarris Hendricks (Mechanicsville, Va.) put up a team-high 22 points, going 5-for-7 from three-point range.
- Senior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) registered a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. He moves to second all-time on the E&H rebounding list with 950 boards, passing All-American Stan Eggleston on the list.
- Junior guard Daniel Spencer (Concord, N.C.) went for 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals while sophomore guard Tharon Suggs (Raleigh, N.C.) had 11 points, seven boards, and four assists.

Ferum Individual Leaders
- Marcus Huff led all players with 23 points and came within one rebound of a double-double with nine boards. He also added three assists, two steals and a block.
- Nick Helton had 14 points and four rebounds while Carrington Young posted 13 points and four boards off the bench.

 A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 50.8 percent of its shots including a 21-for-32 (65.6%) performance in the second half. The Wasps connected on 13 three-pointers in the game, nine of which came after the intermission.
- Ferrum went just 24-for-63 (38.1%) for the game but hit 11 triples. The Panthers went 10-for-14 (71.4%) at the free throw line.
- E&H held a 42-34 rebounding advantage and outscored FC, 30-22, on points in the paint.
- The Panthers posted a 18-13 lead on points off turnovers, taking advantage of 15 miscues by the Wasps.
