FERRUM, Va. – The Ferrum College Men's Basketball Team (6-4, 5-3 ODAC) held off a late second-half rally by visiting Emory & Henry College (0-6, 0-6 ODAC) to come away with an 81-78 win Friday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

How It Happened
- The Wasps and Panthers battled to an 8-8 tie in the opening four minutes of the game. E&H went ahead 18-13 with 12:31 on the clock but six points by FC closed the gap to one. Emory & Henry then went on a 14-5 run for a 32-24 advantage with eight minutes to go before the break.
- Down by nine, the Panthers clawed their way back into the contest with 11 of the final 15 points of the first half to get within two, 45-43.
- Coming out of the intermission, Ferrum scored nine in a row to gain a 52-45 advantage with 16:39 to play. FC slowly built its lead throughout the second half, but E&H stayed within striking distance, stopping runs early.
- Trailing by 13 (75-62) with 2:32 to go, the Wasps put up a final charge, closing the gap to 78-77 with five seconds remaining thanks to a 15-3 run. Ferrum made just four-of-eight free throws in the final 30 seconds, but was able to hold off Emory & Henry for the 81-78 final score.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) scored 21 points, going 7-of-10 from the field with four three-pointers. He also chipped in seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Sophomore guard Kevin Grau Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) had 17 points and four rebounds off the bench while senior guard Robert Holliday, Jr. (Kansas City, Kan.) contributed 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Sophomore forward Dylan Catron (Chilhowie, Va.) notched 11 points on the night.
Ferrum Individual Leaders
- Kajuan Madden-McAfee paced the Panthers with 21 points, connecting on a half-dozen threes, and added seven rebounds.
- Jamar Butler and Carrington Young had 14 points apiece with Young tallying six rebounds and three assists.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 29-for-66 (43.9%) for the game, hitting 13 shots from beyond the arc. The Wasps made just 53.8 percent (7-for-13) of their free throws.
- Ferrum shot 48.2 percent (27-for-56) for the game with 11 makes from long range. The Panthers scored 16 points at the stripe but shot just 57.1 percent.
- FC held a 43-30 rebounding advantage and used 10 offensive boards to lead, 16-4, on second-chance points.
- E&H scored 15 points off 18 Panther turnovers and held an 11-2 lead on fast-break points.
