Emory & Henry Downs Warren Wilson, 95-61, Sunday Afternoon At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (1-1) scored 56 points in the paint on its way to a 95-61 win against Warren Wilson College (0-1) Sunday afternoon. The game was the final contest in the inaugural Food City Tip-Off Classic.

How It Happened
- WWC jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the 16:28 mark of the opening half but E&H stormed back to make it a 15-12 game with a 13-2 run. With the score tied at 17-all, the Wasps reeled off a 14-2 spurt that covered nearly five minutes to lead, 31-19. Emory & Henry continued to build its lead through the end of the period, going into the intermission up 42-24.
- The Wasps opened the second with back-to-back buckets to lead by 27 before the Owls put together an 18-7 run to make it a 58-42 contest with 11:22 on the clock. Emory & Henry began to increase its lead again, hitting a 30-point lead for the first time at 81-51 with 5:59 to go and scored 12 of the next 14 for its biggest advantage of the game, 93-53, on the way to the 95-61 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) led all players with 18 points, going 6-for-8 from the field and adding three assists and three rebounds.
- Senior forward Anthony Williams (Lynchburg, Va.) put up 12 points while junior guard Kevin Grau Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) had 11 points, two assists and two steals off the bench.
- Freshman guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) tacked on 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Warren Wilson Individual Leaders
- DeMarco Jackson paced the Owls with 13 points and added two assists while Kris Carroll and Adonis King had 10 points each.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 36-of-66 (54.5%) of its shots with eight three-pointers and went 15-for-18 (83.3%) from the free throw line.
- Warren Wilson shot 42.3 percent (22-of-52) with four makes from long range. The Owls were 13-of-15 (86.7%) at the stripe.
- E&H held a 35-26 rebounding advantage, including a 13-7 margin on the offense glass when they translated to a 16-9 lead on second-chance points.
- The Wasps led 56-32 on points in the paint and outscored the Owls 29-16 on points off turnovers.
