Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Pensacola Christian, 99-70, Friday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (2-1) opened up a 54-27 lead at the half and never looked back as it defeated Pensacola Christian College (1-6) by a 99-70 score in the first contest of a two-game weekend against the Eagles.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry opened the game with a 10-5 lead before Pensacola Christian came back to make it 12-10 with 14:10 on the clock. The Wasps then scored 12 in a row and also had a 21-4 run to push their advantage to 46-22 with 1:42 to go before the break. E&H would lead, 54-27, at the intermission.
- The Wasps got the second half started with a 16-5 run to go ahead by 37 (69-32) with 15:07 left in the contest. E&H was able to go to its bench for most of the remainder of the game as all 16 players saw action and 11 put their names in the scoring column. Trailing by 35, the Eagles scored 10 of the last 14 points of the game to make the final margin 99-70.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman guard Jalen Leftwitch (Lynchburg, Va.) was one of six players to score in double figures for the Wasps leading the way with 21 points. He went 9-for-12 from the field and added seven assists, three steals and two rebounds.
- Sophomore guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) had 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and two teals while freshman forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) went for 12 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.
- Senior guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.), and freshman guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) contributed 12 points each while junior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) went for 11 points.

Pensacola Christian Individual Leaders
- Christian Porter had 14 points and six rebounds pace the Eagles while Austin Lewis went for 12 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists.
- A.J. Ward tacked on 11 points and two rebounds as Chandler Fitzgerald had 10 points and two boards off the bench.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 57.7 percent (41-for-71) from the field with 11 three-pointers. The Wasps made 60 percent (6-of-10) of their free throws.
- Pensacola Christian went just 27-for-70 (38.6%) from the floor with eight makes from long range. The Eagles also went 8-for-11 (72.7%) at the free throw line.
- E&H held a 45-32 rebounding advantage and outscored PCC 17-4 on second-chance points.
- The Wasps scored 56 points in the paint and 35 points on the fast break compared to 32 and 11 points for the Eagles, respectively.
