Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Completes Sweep Of Pensacola Christian With An 87-69 Win Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (3-1) picked up its second win over Pensacola Christian College (1-7) in as many days, defeating the Eagles by an 87-69 margin.

How It Happened
- E&H got out to a 9-2 lead at the 13:43 mark of the opening half but PCC tied things up with seven in a row. The squads traded baskets out to an 18-18 tie later in the frame before 12 in a row by the Wasps made the score 30-18 with 5:08 to go before the intermission. Emory & Henry would take a 46-25 advantage into the locker room.
- Pensacola Christian came out of the break and cut the deficit to 12 (56-44) with 15:33 on the clock. Eight straight by E&H pushed the margin back to 63-44. The team went back and forth for the majority of the second 20 minutes, but the Wasps' lead was too much for the Eagles to overcome.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) led the Wasps with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists while freshman forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) had 18 points and nine boards.
- Freshman forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) notched a double-double off the bench with 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists as senior guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.) added nine points.

Pensacola Christian Individual Leaders
- Stephen Wheeler went for a game-high 22 points while Garriott Jones had 12 points, three assists and three steals.
- Christian Porter, Will Higdon and A.J. Ward had nine points each with Ward adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 36-of-64 (56.3%) of its field goals with nine triples. The Wasps went 66.7 percent (6-for-9) from the free throw line.
- Pensacola Christian shot 46.4 percent (26-for-56) from the floor including seven from beyond the arc. The Eagles were 10-for-17 (58.8%) at the stripe.
- E&H held a 41-21 rebounding advantage and used 15 offensive rebounds to lead 16-2 on second-chance points.
- The Wasps also posted a 46-32 margin on points in the paint.
