Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Downs Mars Hill, 86-74, Monday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (4-2) got back on track Monday evening with an 86-74 win over future South Atlantic Conference opponent Mars Hill University (3-4). Sophomore guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) was one of four Wasps to score in double figures, highlighting the contest with a triple-double.

How It Happened
- The two teams battled out to a 9-9 tie at the 16:47 mark of the opening half before a 9-2 run by E&H gave it an 18-12 advantage. An 11-0 run by the Wasps later in the half pushed the margin to 36-20 with 6:11 to go before the break. After Mars Hill scored 10 in a row, Emory & Henry closed the half on a 13-2 run for a 54-36 lead.
- The squads went back and forth early in the second before nine in a row by the Lions closed the gap to 58-47. An 8-1 run by the Wasps made it a 20-point game at 77-57 with 6:32 to go. MHU then put together a 12-1 run to close the gap to 78-69 with 3:50 left. Emory & Henry then scored the next seven to put the contest out of reach as they earned the 86-74 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Antonelli scored 10 points, adding 11 rebounds and 10 assists for a double-double. It was the second time in seven games that he has accomplished the feat going back to the final game of the 2020-21 season.
- Junior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) led all players with 22 points while freshman Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) had 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
- Senior guard Tyler Arnold (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 10 points and two assists off the bench while freshman guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) went for 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Mars Hill Individual Leaders
- Jay Hickman put up 14 points and three rebounds as Kadyn Dawkins added 14 point and two rebounds of his own.
- Isayah Johnson led the Lions with 12 points and 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.
- Isaiah Jones went for nine points, seven rebounds and two assists off the bench.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 31-of-66 (47%) of its field goals and connected on nine three-pointers. Mars Hill shot 40.3 percent (29-for-72) for the game with eight makes from long range.
- E&H held a 15-8 advantage at the free throw line despite shooting only 51.7 percent (15-for-29).
- The Wasps held a 43-41 lead on the boards as the two squads tied 13-13 on second-chance points.
- Emory & Henry edged Mars Hill, 38-36, on points in the paint.
