Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Defeats Brevard, 70-57, Friday Afternoon At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (4-2) hit 11 three-pointers on its way to a 70-57 win over Brevard College (0-6) Friday at the John Rutledge King Center.

How It Happened
- E&H and BC traded baskets early in the game before the Wasps went on a 24-6 run covering 10:29 to go up 26-12. The Tornados closed the gap to six (31-25) with 2:23 to go, but Emory & Henry responded with a 6-2 run to lead, 37-27 at the break.
- Coming out of the intermission, Emory & Henry extended its lead to 17 with 14:10 on the clock. The Wasps pushed the margin to 20 (60-40) with 7:44 to go but the Tornados would not go down without a fight, putting together a 13-3 run to close the gap to 10 with 2:20 remaining. E&H fended off the BC run in the final minutes to claim the 70-57 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) led all players with 29 points, hitting seven threes in the game. He came one rebound short of a double-double and also grabbed a pair of steals.
- Freshman guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists while senior guard Tyler Arnold (Kingsport, Tenn.) went for seven points and three boards off the bench.
- Sophomore guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) notched six assists and four rebounds in the contest.

Brevard Individual Leaders
- Chancey Watson had 12 points, three assists and two rebounds off the bench to lead Brevard while L.B. Boyette posted 12 points and three boards of his own.
- Carson Evans notched seven points as Garrett Sutherland had six points and four rebounds.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 25-for-61 (41.0%) for the game with 11 three-point baskets. The Wasps went 9-for-16 (56.3%) at the free throw line.
- Brevard made 38.9 percent (21-for-54) of its field goal attempts, but was just 5-for-27 (18.5%) from long range. The Tornados shot 10-for-18 (55.6%) at the stripe.
- E&H held a 42-34 rebounding advantage but were outscored 28-24 in the paint by BC.
- The Wasps outscored the Tornados 15-8 on fast breaks and 19-14 on points off turnovers.
