BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Bluefield State College Men's Basketball Team (6-10) scored 62 points in the first half on its way to a 110-91 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (14-6) Saturday afternoon in a matchup of NCAA Division II independent programs.

How It Happened
- BSC opened the game with a 14-9 lead at the 14:53 mark of the first half before E&H went on a 14-2 run over the next two minutes to go up 23-16. Bluefield State answered with an 18-4 run to go up 33-27, a lead it would not give up for the rest of the game. Leading 50-42 with 2:33 to go before the break, the Big Blue scored the final 12 points of the half to take a 20-point lead, 62-42, into the locker room.
- The Wasps scored 11 of the first 13 points of the second half to close the gap to 11 (64-53) with 16:41 on the clock, but Bluefield State quickly extended the margin back to 17. The squads traded baskets for the majority of the final 20 minutes as the Big Blue cruised to a 110-91 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) posted a season-best 25 points and added five rebounds and two blocks while senior guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.) went for 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
- Freshman forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) generated 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks with freshman guard Jacob Morgan (Huntersville, Va.) tacking on 11 points and five rebounds.
- Junior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) contributed 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Bluefield State Individual Leaders
- Jordan Hinds led all players as he put up 35 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks.
- Marquez Cooper went for 25 points and five rebounds as Landry Palata turned in a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
- Khamaury McMillan chipped in 12 points, five steals and two rebounds off the bench.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 43.6 percent (34-for-78) for the game with seven three-pointers. The Wasps were 16-for-24 (66.7%) from the free throw line.
- Bluefield State made 46-of-87 (52.9%) of its field goals and connected on six shots from long range. The Big Blue converted 80 percent (12-of-15) of their free throws.
- BSC held a 51-41 rebounding advantage and outscored E&H, 19-13, on second-chance points.
- The Big Blue dominated the scoring down low, 74-48, over the Wasps and held a 29-16 lead in points off turnovers.
