Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Rallies Past Washington Adventist, 85-77, Thursday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (15-8) got back on the winning track Thursday evening with an 85-77 victory over Washington Adventist University (18-9) at home. The Wasps saw four players reach double figures in scoring in the victory.

How It Happened
- The Shock got out to an 18-7 lead at the 15:01 mark of the opening half. E&H closed the gap to five (18-13) before seven in a row by WAU made it a 12-point contest with 8:21 to go before the break. The Wasps went on a 14-4 run to get within two, 29-27, with 4:04 before the break and scored eight of the final 10 points to go into the locker room up, 35-34.
- Returning to action, Washington Adventist tied the contest at 38-all and went up 47-42 with 15:45 to play. The two squads traded baskets back and forth for much of the second half with most of the 10 ties and seven lead changes coming after the intermission. Down 75-73 with 3:44 to go, Emory & Henry closed the game on a 12-2 run making its final eight free throws for the final 85-77 score.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) led all players with 26 points, scoring 18 points after the half. He went 10-for-12 from the field with four three-pointers, adding a pair of rebounds and two blocks.
- Freshman forward Jacob Moynihan (Munice, Ind.) had 11 points and five boards off the bench while junior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) went for 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Freshman guard Jacob Morgan (Huntersville, N.C.) notched 10 points, two boards and two assists.

Washington Adventist Individual Leaders
- Devon Flowers paced the Shock with 18 points, five rebounds and two blocks while Darius Huff put up 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
- Kyron Martin tallied 11 points and six rebounds as Mastadi Pitt contributed nine points and three assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 49.2 percent (29-for-59) for the game with seven three-pointers. The Wasps shot 20-for-27 (74.1%) at the free throw line.
- Washington Adventist hit 31-of-67 (40.8%) of its shots, connecting on eight triples. The Shock struggled at the line, making just 57.1 percent (8-of-14) of their chances.
- WAU held a 41-39 rebounding advantage and used 18 offensive boards to lead 19-12 on second-chance points.
- The Wasps notched a 44-40 margin on points in the paint and also led 18-12 on points off turnovers.
