Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Tops Carolina Univ., 84-73, Tuesday On The Road

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (16-9) saw five players reach double figures in scoring as it defeated Carolina University (17-5) by an 84-73 score on Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- The Bruins opened up an early 7-3 lead but nine in a row by the Wasps made it a 12-7 contest with 16:05 on the clock. The teams traded baskets through the middle of the half with Emory & Henry going ahead 41-28 on the end of a 9-0 run. E&H would lead 46-33 at the break.
- Carolina U. closed the gap to six (49-43) early in the second and kept the pressure on, making the score 60-59 with 8:55 to play. A 12-4 run by the Wasps extended the lead back to 72-63 with less then four and a half minutes to play and was large enough to hold off the Bruins for the final 84-73 score.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) put up a game-high 18 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists while freshman forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) notched 15 points and seven rebounds.
- Junior guard Kevin Grau Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) had 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals as junior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) added 11 points and five boards.
- Senior guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.) tallied 10 points as sophomore guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) tacked on four points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks.

Carolina Univ. Individual Leaders
- Micah Cooper went for a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, adding three assists and three steals.
- Kester Ofoegbu registered 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench while Andrue Aguilera added 10 points and three assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 47.8 percent (32-for-67) from the field with 11 three-pointers. The Wasps made 60 percent (6-of-10) of their free throws.
- Carolina Univ. hit 28-of-62 (45.2%) of its shots and made eight buckets from beyond the arc. The Bruins were 9-for-18 (50%) at the stripe.
- E&H held a 36-32 rebounding advantage and led 38-36 on points in the paint. The Wasps also managed a 20-16 margin on points off turnovers.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will close out the 2021-22 season with another contest against Bruins on Saturday when it hosts Carolina Univ. at 4:00 p.m. The contest, which will serve as Senior Day for the Wasps as well as, will also be the second game of a doubleheader with the E&H women's team.
