No. 10 Lincoln Memorial Men's Basketball Defeats Emory & Henry, 89-69, Saturday In SAC Action

EMORY, Va. – The No. 10 Lincoln Memorial University Men's Basketball Team (8-1, 2-0 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (5-2, 0-1 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Railsplitters took the victory by a 89-69 scoreline.

How It Happened
- Both squads traded baskets in the early stages of the opening half and the score stood level at 13-13 with 12 minutes to play. The visitors cranked up the intensity in the latter part of the first half, utilizing an 18-4 run en route to a 50-23 lead at the halftime break.
- The Wasps outscored LMU 13-7 to begin the second half, but the halftime advantage was too much as the Railsplitters rolled to an 89-69 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
-Sophomore forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) had 14 points, six rebounds, a steal and two blocks to lead the Wasps. Sophomore guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) added 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
- Senior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) contributed 14 points, three steals and two assists while freshman guard Christian Drummer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) had six points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in the loss.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Me'Kell Burries led the scoring effort for the Railsplitters with 18 points, four rebounds and a steal while Thomas Allard added 14 points, five assists, two rebounds and a block.
- Matthew Sells had 13 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. 

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 42.4 percent (25-for-59) from the field while Lincoln Memorial made 36-of-60 (60%) of their shots. The Wasps team hit three three-pointers in the contest, compared to 12 for the Railsplitters.
- LMU held a 39-28 rebounding advantage and outscored the Wasps by a 46-34 margin in points in the paint.
