Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Blows By Pensacola Christian, 91-61, Friday Evening

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (10-4) defeated Pensacola Christian College (2-12, 1-1 NCCAA) in non-conference action on Friday evening. The Wasps led the entire way en route to a 91-61 victory.

How It Happened
- The Wasps came out firing, as they jumped out to a 17-7 lead after five minutes elapsed in the first half. E&H pushed its lead to 32-20 on a Jacob Morgan (Huntersville, N.C.) corner three-point basket with just under eight minutes to play. The Wasps continued to increase the margin and took a 48-31 advantage into the half.
- The Eagles responded out of the halftime break and were able to cut the deficit to just ten at 56-46 with 14 minutes left on the clock. E&H would then go on a 16-2 run over the following 6:05 of play to widen the lead out to a comfortable margin. Sophomore forward Russ Wells (Isle of Wight, Va.) put the finishing touches on the victory with a bucket from beyond the three-point line to bring the game to its final score at 91-61. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) led the offense with a game-high 20 points, three rebounds and a block while fellow sophomore Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) added 15 points, six rebounds, two steals and an assist.
- Sophomore guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) had 10 points, five assists and three rebounds and Morgan contributed nine points, two blocks, a rebound and a steal. 

Pensacola Christian Individual Leaders
- AJ Ward was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 19 points, a rebound and a steal. Christian Porter had 15 points, three assists and a steal.
- Liam Gerdts posted ten points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 54.8 percent (34-for-62) from the field while Pensacola Christian made 21-of-61 (34.4%) of their shots. Both squads knocked down nine three-point baskets in the contest.
- The Wasps outrebounded the visitors by a 44-29 margin and the bench posted 44 points compared to just eight for the Eagles.

- Emory & Henry returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday when it makes the trip to Gaffney, South Carolina to take on the Saints of Limestone University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., as the second half of a doubleheader with the women's team.
