Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Blows By Tusculum, 90-68, On Banks’ Milestone Night Wednesday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (13-8, 4-7 SAC) completed the season sweep of Tusculum University (10-9, 6-6 SAC) on Wednesday evening. The Wasps saw a season-high five players score in double figures as they drubbed the Pioneers by a 90-68 margin.

How It Happened
- The two squads traded buckets through the opening five minutes of play and the score stood at 15-13 in favor of the home team with 14:43 remaining in the first half. A quick 6-0 run put the Pioneers ahead, but the Wasps responded and retook the lead 22-21 on a made jump shot from fifth-year guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.). E&H's lead swelled to double digits for the first time at the 5:49 mark when junior guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) drained a three-pointer to run the score to 34-24. The Wasps took a healthy 45-31 advantage into the halftime break.
- Emory & Henry came out of the break firing on all cylinders and quickly increased its advantage to 55-35 with 15:19 to play. The Wasps continued to lock down on the defensive end and poured it on the visitors from Greeneville, Tennessee, leading by as many as 27 in the second half. Banks added his name to the E&H record books, as he eclipsed the 1,000 career points total with a made layup at the 5:44 mark of the second half. The Wasps could do no wrong on the night and cruised to the big 90-68 victory. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) led the offense with a game-high 17 points, five rebounds and an assist off the bench. Sophomore guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) added 14 points, three rebounds and an assist.
- Banks finished the night with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal to put himself at 1,006 career points while sophomore guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) contributed 13 points, seven helpers, a rebound and a steal.

Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Inady Legiste led the Pioneers with ten points, five boards, two steals and a block while KJ Crump added ten points, one rebound, one assist and a steal off of the bench.
- James West had nine points, three rebounds, an assist and two steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 55.0 percent (33-for-60) from the field while Tusculum made 25-of-66 (37.9%) of their shots. The Wasps knocked down 11 shots (57.9%) from the three-point arc, compared to ten (37.0%) for the Pioneers.
- E&H outrebounded the visitors by a 44-31 margin and outscored Tusculum 42-28 in the paint.
- The Wasps' bench held the large 41-26 advantage in substitute scoring.
