No. 8 Lincoln Memorial Men's Basketball Tops Emory & Henry, 95-81, Wednesday Evening

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The No. 8 nationally-ranked Lincoln Memorial University Men's Basketball Team (23-2, 13-1 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (14-9, 6-8 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference divisional play on Wednesday evening. The Railsplitters had five players score in double-figures in the 95-81 victory.

How It Happened
- The Wasps utilized a pair of made shots from deep from sophomore forward Jake Moynihan (Muncie, Ind.) to run out to an early 13-6 lead at the 16:44 mark. Both teams were hot early from three-point range and E&H held the narrow 21-20 advantage at the under 12-minute media timeout. The Railsplitters surged ahead through the middle of the first half and maintained a 42-34 lead with 3:58 to play. Lincoln Memorial finished the half on a 12-1 run to take a 54-38 lead into the halftime break.
- E&H came out of the locker room and pressed the issue, as they used a 12-0 run to trim the deficit to just five at 58-53 with 14:24 on the clock. LMU would espond with a 15-5 run of its own to extend their advantage back out to 15 with ten minutes to play. The Railsplitters maintained a double-digit cushion throughout the remainder of the second half and earned the 0-0 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Moynihan led the Wasps with 21 points, seven boards, two assists, a block and a steal. Sophomore guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) had 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
- Sophomore guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) posted 16 points, five rebounds and three assists in the losing effort.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Luke Bartemes had a game-high 24 points and five rebounds while Chase Rankin recorded a triple-double with ten points, ten rebounds, 11 assists and two steals.
- Martez Brown contributed 20 points on 8-of-8 shooting from the field, five rebounds, three steals, a block and an assist.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 44.9 percent (31-for-69) from the field while LMU made 32-of-68 (47.1%) of their shots. The Wasps knocked down 11 shots (40.7%) from the three-point arc, compared to 13 (41.9%) for the Railsplitters.
- Lincoln Memorial outrebounded the visitors by a 43-34 margin and held the 19-10 edge in second-chance scoring.
- The Wasps forced 13 turnovers, converting them into 23 points. LMU forced 11 miscues and capitalized with just ten points.
