JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman University Men's Basketball Team (13-14, 7-10 SAC) ran away from Emory & Henry College (15-12, 6-11 SAC) in SAC Mountain Division play on Wednesday evening. The Eagles led the entire way en route to a 106-79 victory.

How It Happened
- The Eagles got off to a hot start early in the game as they knocked down seven of their first 13 shot attempts to run out to a 17-12 lead with 11:47 on the clock. Carson-Newman opened their lead up to eight, but back-to-back three pointers from sophomore guard Jacob Morgan (Huntersville, N.C.) reduced the deficit to 28-25 with seven minutes remaining in the opening half. C-N increased its lead to as many as 13 in the latter stages of the first half and took a 49-40 lead into the break.
- The teams lit up the scoreboard in the first five minutes of the second frame and the Wasps reduced their deficit to 61-54. The Eagles utilized a 15-1 run to balloon their lead back out to 78-57 with 10:03 to play. Carson-Newman increased their advantage to as many as 29 and rolled to the 106-79 win.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Jake Moynihan (Muncie, Ind.) paced the Wasps with a team-high 14 points, eight rebounds and an assist while freshman forward Marshall Klug (Greensboro, N.C.) had a career-high 13 points and five boards.
- Senior guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) posted 13 points, five helpers and a rebound. Sophomore guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) contributed nine points, five assists and two rebounds.
Carson-Newman Individual Leaders
- Jack Browder had a game-high 25 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals while Thomas Bryant added 22 points, six rebounds, three blocks, a steal and an assist for the Eagles.
- Nick Brenegan posted 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 41.8 percent (28-for-67) from the field while Carson-Newman made 41-of-74 (55.4%) of their shots. The Wasps knocked down 12 shots (36.4%) from the three-point arc, compared to 13 (46.4%) for the Eagles.
- C-N outrebounded the Wasps by a 43-30 margin and held the large 48-24 advantage on points in the paint.
- The Eagles outscored E&H 12-0 on the fastbreak and the home bench tallied 42 points compared to 34 for the visitors.
