How It Happened

E&H battled back and was able to close the margin to just 25-19 on a made layup from sophomore forward Jake Moynihan (Muncie, Ind.) at the 7:30 mark. The second stanza was a hectic affair that saw 16 ties and 20 lead changes as the two teams jockeyed for the advantage. Newberry held the slim 76-74 lead with 31 seconds remaining when sophomore forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) swatted a shot attempt, grabbed the rebound and drew a foul in the act of shooting on the other end of the floor. Brown sank both shots from the charity stripe to tie things back up and set up a dramatic finish. Newberry's Andrew Robinson came up clutch in the final seconds as he buried the game-winning shot with just three ticks on the clock and the home team held on for the 78-76 victory.
