BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (2-4) dropped its non-conference matchup against King (Tenn.) University (2-4) on Tuesday evening. The Tornado established an eight point halftime lead and never looked back, earning the victory by an 85-77 margin.

How It Happened
- The first half was a back-and-forth affair that saw the two squads deadlocked at 18-18 at the under 12 minute media timeout. The teams continued to trade blows through the middle stages of the opening frame and a made three from sophomore forward Jacob Dar (Omaha, Neb.) tied things up at 32-32 with 4:08 remaining. The home team would finish the half on an 11-3 run to take the eight-point advantage into the halftime break.
- King began the second half the same way they ended the first, pushing its lead out to 14 in the opening four minutes. The Wasps slowly trimmed away at the deficit and a bucket from sophomore forward Marshall Klug (Greensboro, N.C.) made the score 57-50 with 13:03 to play. Every time E&H attempted to make a run, the Tornado had an answer and maintained a comfortable margin throughout the rest of the game. King pushed their lead out to as many as 16 and held on for the 85-77 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Dar led the way for the Wasps with 19 points, five rebounds, one steal and a block. Junior forward Jake Moynihan (Muncie, Ind.) finished with 15 points and nine boards
- Junior guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) added ten points, three rebounds and a steal while senior guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) chipped in with seven points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals.
King Individual Leaders
- Mikhail Pocknett paced the Tornado with his 13 points, three rebounds, one steal, one assist and a block while Satchel Love had 13 points, six rebounds and a block.
- Almando Cyrius posted 12 points, two rebounds, one assist and a steal. Myles McCrary recorded ten points, four rebounds, one assist and a blocked shot.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 41.7 percent (25-for-60) from the field while King made 32-of-63 (50.8%) of their shots. The Wasps knocked down just four shots (21.1%) from the three-point arc, compared to six for the Tornado (30.0%).
- The Tornado outrebounded the Wasps by a narrow 40-37 margin and held a 48-40 advantage on points in the paint.
- The King reserves came up big with a 42-31 advantage on bench points. The Wasps kept the game within reach by shooting 23-for-28 (82.1%) from the charity stripe while the Tornado were just 15-for-28 (53.6%).
