Tusculum Men's Basketball Tops Emory & Henry, 84-72, Thursday Evening

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tusculum University Men's Basketball Team (6-8, 4-4 SAC) earned its second win in as many weeks over Emory & Henry College (4-12, 1-7 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play Thursday evening. The Pioneers ran out to a 17-point halftime lead and never looked back, topping the Wasps by a 84-72 margin.

How It Happened
- The Pioneers were hot from the start despite the snowy conditions outside, running out to a 20-9 advantage at the under 12 minute media timeout. The home team ramped up the pace through the middle stages of the opening half as they pushed their lead out to 31-12 with just over eight minutes to play. Tusculum ballooned its lead to as many as 22 and took the 47-30 margin into halftime.
- The second half of play was more of the same with TU maintaining its comfortable lead throughout the stanza. A late flurry of points from the Wasps was not enough as the Pioneers held on for the 84-72 victory. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Jacob Dar (Omaha, Neb.) led the Wasps as he posted a career-high 30 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists off of the bench. Junior guard Jalen Leftwich (Lynchburg, Va.) added ten points, five rebounds and two helpers of his own.
- Junior guard Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) posted eight points, two rebounds and an assist while junior forward Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.) had six points, three boards and three assists.

Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Connor Jordan paced TU with 20 points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal while Akeem Odusipe recorded a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, one assist and a blocked shot.
- Josiah Morris chipped in with 15 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 43.9 percent (25-for-57) for the game with five made three-pointers (26.3%). The Wasps went 17-for-22 (77.3%) at the free throw line.
- Tusculum hit 32-of-60 (53.3%) of its field goal attempts, connecting on nine triples (47.4%). The Pioneers knocked down just 52.4 percent (11-of-21) of their free throws.
- TU held a 37-31 rebounding margin and assisted on 20 of their made field goals compared to 12 for E&H.
- The game saw just one tie and one lead change as the Pioneers were in front for 37:39 of gametime.
