
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team has received a team academic honor from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, NABC officials announced this week. It is the third consecutive season that the Wasps have been recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Emory & Henry was one of more than 360 programs from all levels of college basketball to receive the Team Academic Excellence Award, which recognizes a team grade-point average of 3.0 during the 2023-24 academic year. Emory & Henry is one of just two schools from the South Atlantic Conference to receive the honor.
In addition, senior Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.), senior Evan Burton (Olive Branch, Miss.), junior Cade Looney (Grundy, Va.), junior Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) and junior Jake Thacker (Abingdon, Va.) have been selected to the 2023-24 NABC Honors Court. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2023-24 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."
Emory & Henry posted a 5-23 overall record on the court during the 2023-24 season, including a record of 2-18 in South Atlantic Conference play.
