
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Emory & Henry Men's Basketball Team (5-18, 3-16 SAC) ran out to a three-point halftime lead, but could not hold on as the Wasps fell to Coker University (15-7, 11-7 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Cobras scored 54 second-half points to earn the 102-91 victory.

How It Happened
- The Cobras were hot from the tip, as they scored the first eight points of the contest and held a 10-5 lead at the first media timeout. The Wasps responded with a 20-6 run over the following five and a half minutes to establish a 25-16 advantage. E&H managed to push its lead out to as many at 10 points, but CU answered back to jump back ahead at 43-42 with just under four minutes remaining in the opening half of play. The visitors from Emory finished the stanza on a 9-5 run to take a 51-48 margin into the half.
- The game was evenly-contested to begin the second half and the score was all square at 62-62 with 14:38 on the clock. The next five minutes were back-and-forth as the teams were tied on six separate occasions with the game remaining deadlocked at 73-73 with 9:52 to play. The Cobras kicked into gear through the middle of the frame as they rattled off a 16-2 run over a four and a half minute span to take a commanding 89-75 lead. The Wasps managed to reduce the deficit to single digits at 97-88, but that was as close as they would get as Coker took the win by the 102-91 final score.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman guard Korbin Dixon (Milton, Ontario, CANADA) led the offense for the Wasps as he posted a career-high 24 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist off of the bench. Junior forward Assad Madassalia (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a double-double with a career-high 14 rebounds, 12 points, three blocks and a steal.
- Senior guard/forward Gabe Brown (Clintwood, Va.) went for 19 points, eight boards and a pair of assists while freshman guard Sam Ritchie (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) added 15 points and three rebounds. Freshman forward Draven Pilson (Winston-Salem, N.C.) registered 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and a blocked shot.
Coker Individual Leaders
- Jonah Vaysbakh led all scorers with a game-high 27 points, three assists, one rebound and a steal off of the bench for the Cobras. Judson Coan posted 22 points and six rebounds.
- Logan Murray finished with 16 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal while Jamie Muldowney went for 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 47.9% (34-for-71) from the floor while making 30.3% (10-for-33) of its shots from long range. Coker was 32-for-70 (45.7%) overall, but filled up the basket from beyond the three-point line as they shot 42.6% (20-for-47).
- E&H converted 81.3% (13-for-16) of their attempts from the free throw line as CU went 18-for-27 (66.7%).
- The Wasps outrebounded the Cobras by a 44-41 margin and made hay in the paint as they finished with 46 points compared to just 22 for the home squad.
- Both benches had huge contributions as CU tallied 61 points from its reserves while E&H had 42 points.
