Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth At VSGA Intercollegiate Tuesday

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team concluded the fall portion of its season with an eighth-place finish at the 70th Virginia State Golf Association Intercollegiate. Roanoke College served as the host institution of the tournament which was played at Blacksburg Country Club.

Round Two
Junior Wesley Jones (Seymour, Tenn.) moved up six spots as he shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for 13th (+2). Junior Blake Benson (Kingsport, Tenn.) put up a score of 78 (+6) for the second day in a row to tie for 42nd.

Juniors Christofer Schaff (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Isfandyar Khan (Lahore, PAKISTAN) ended the event both tied for 59th overall. Khan shot an 80 (+8) on Tuesday while Schaff went for an 84 (+12).

Freshman Chase Maddox (Amherst, Va.) carded a 79 (+7) which was third for the Wasps on the day to finish the tournament at +20 (T-74).

The Winners
Averett University's Elias Haavistro retained the lead through Tuesday's round, finishing at -8 (67-69 –136). University of Lynchburg's Harry Hodgert was the runner up, shooting a -7 for the tournament.

Christopher Newport University defeated Lynchburg for the team title in playoff after both squads finished the tournament at +4 (580). The Captains made up an 11-stroke difference from Monday on the way to the win.
