Emory & Henry Men's Golf Takes Fifth At Bluefield’s Castle Classic Tuesday

BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team completed its first tournament of the year Tuesday, finishing fifth at the Castle Classic, hosted by Bluefield University.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) moved up two spots from round one, shooting a +3 (73) to finish fourth at +7 for the event. Fifth-year Isfandyar Khan (Lahore, PAKISTAN) moved into the top 20 for the tournament, carding a 78 (+8) on Tuesday to take 19th overall.

Freshman Alex Boone (Clyde, N.C.) carved 11 strokes off yesterday's mark, posting a +7 (77) to finish tied for 23rd while freshman Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) jumped three places with a 78 (+8), finishing T-25th.

Sophomore Sam Vandyne (Max Meadows, Va.) turned in an 86, finishing 30th overall.

The Winners
Bluefield's Patrick Dodson put up a -2 (68) in the final round to win the event by five strokes over teammate Noah Moler and Milligan University's Jonathan Liggett. The Rams claimed the team trophy with a score of +25 (299-286 –585), besting Milligan by just three strokes (299-289 –588; +28).

Up Next
Emory & Henry will return to action on Monday, September 27 when it competes in the King Invitational. The tournament, which will be held at the Golf Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tennessee, will also feature the E&H women's team.
