Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Finishes Third At Nick England Memorial Invitational Monday

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team kept it season rolling as it posted a third-place finish at the Nick England Memorial Invitational on Monday. The Wasps shot a program-best team score of 293 (+9) to finish one shot off the team title as the top NCAA Division II program in the field.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) finished tied at the top of the leaderboard at -3 (68) on the day, coming up short on medalist honors on the second playoff hole.

Freshman Alex Boone (Clyde, N.C.) notched his first collegiate top-five, shooting an even-par 71 to finish fourth while freshman Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) tied for 14th at +5 (76).

Senior Alex Cameron (Mascot, Tenn.) shot a 78 (+7) which was good for T-18th while fifth-year Christofer Schaff (Elizabethton, Tenn.) rounded out the team with an +9 (80) to tie for 22nd.

The Winners
Milligan University's "A" and "B" Teams tied for the team championship at +8 (292) while the Wasps were one stroke back in third at 293 (+9). UVA Wise took fourth at +12 (296).

Carter Counts of Milligan earned the individual championship after two playoff holes, shooting a -3 (68). Milligan's Alvaro Huidobro and Ojeda shared second place after the playoff.

Up Next
E&H will conclude the fall portion of its schedule at the end of the month when it hosts the Buzz Off Invitational on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31. The event will feature both a men's and women's tournament and will take place at Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon, Virginia.
