Emory & Henry Men's Golf Takes 14th At Tusculum Invitational Tuesday

CHUCKEY, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team posted a 14th-place finish out of 17 competing teams at the Tusculum Invitational. The Wasps shot a 324 in round one on Monday and carved 14 strokes to move up two places in the team standings in Tuesday's final round.

Day One - Monday
Freshman Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) shot a 78 (+6) on Monday to lead the team while freshman Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) carded a +7 (79).

Sophomore Sam Vandyne (Max Meadows, Va.) was third on the squad as he shot an 82 (+10) as sophomore Jason Hall (Dublin, Va.) and freshman Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) each tallied a +13 (85).

Day Two – Tuesday
Ojeda moved up 22 places with an even par (72) in the second round to tie for 31st overall. Hall jumped 22 spots in his own right, turning in a 73 (+1) which was good for T-67th in the tournament.

Huangching finished tied for 77th, shooting a +11 (83) on Tuesday while Gehringer and VanDyne completed play at T-85th with rounds of 82 and 85, respectively.

The Winners
Austin Fulton of University of West Georgia fired a -7 (69-68 – 137) to win the event by two strokes over Tusculum's Liam van Deventer (-5; 68-71 – 139). The Pioneers captured the team title at -4 (285-283 – 586) over the Wolves (-4; 289-283 – 572).

Up Next
Emory & Henry will be back in action next week when it competes in the St. Andrews Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole event will be played at Deercroft Golf Club in Wagram, North Carolina.
