Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Finishes Third At The Cateechee Cup Tuesday

HARTWELL, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team finished in third place out of four competing teams at The Cateechee Cup, hosted by Emmanuel (Ga.) College on Tuesday. The Wasps saw four of their five players finish in the top 15 in the tournament including a pair which earned top-10s.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Jordan Kuang Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) tied the Emory & Henry single-round record with a -4 (67), surging nine places to finish tied for fifth at +6. Freshman Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) moved up two spots with a round of 76 (+5) to complete the tournament tied for ninth at +11.

Freshman Peyton Spangler (Roanoke, Va.) shot an 83 (+12) during Tuesday's round, taking a T-13th position at +16 while junior Avery Alexander (Christiansburg, Va.) carded an 80 (+9), ending the tournament tied for 15th (+19).

Sophomore Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) moved up one place with a +11 round of 82, finishing 19th in the field.

The Winners
Emmanuel (Ga.) College's Pablo Riveiro shot 72-70 to finish the event at even par, winning by three strokes over teammate Pelayo Sol (73-72; +3).

The Lions captured the top four places on their way to winning the team title with an overall score of +7 (292-283 – 575). Spartanburg Methodist College was the runner-up at +35 (302-301 – 603).

Up Next
Emory & Henry will conclude the 2022-23 season next Tuesday when it competes in 36 holes of action at the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout. Milligan University will host the tournament at Elizabethton Golf Club in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
