Emmanuel Men’s Golf Leads Emory & Henry, 3-2, Through Day One Of Match-Play Dual Monday

ROYSTON, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College and Emmanuel (Ga.) University Men's Golf Teams kicked off the spring 2024 season on Monday with the first day of a match-play dual at Highland Walk Golf Course at Victoria Bryant State Park.

The event is being played as modified match play with all competitors completing their round and then comparing their stroke play score to determine the winner of the match. Through the first day, Emmanuel holds a 3-2 lead over Emory & Henry.

How It Happened
- Emmanuel won the first two pairings as Markel Olasagasti topped E&H sophomore Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) by one stroke, 73-72. The Lions' Pelayo Sol earned a seven-shot win over freshman Sam Fansler (Moneta, Va.), 71-78.
- The Wasps got on the board as junior Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) beat Austin Spencer by a 75-82 margin.
- The Lions extended their lead to 3-1 after the fourth pairing with Daniel Alonso Drljevic earning a nine-stroke victory against freshman Ryne Bond (Floyd, Va.), 74-83.
- Emory & Henry sophomore Jordan Kuang Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) edged out a one-stroke victory, 77-78 against Eric Galimany to close the gap to 3-2.
