Bluefield Men’s Golf Leads Emory & Henry After Day One Of Fincastle/Glenrochie Challenge Saturday

BLUEFIELD, Va.  – The Emory & Henry College and Bluefield University Men's Golf Teams kicked off the Fincastle/Glenrochie Challenge on Saturday with 18 holes at Fincastle on the Mountain. The Rams hold a 288-301 lead over the Wasps after the opening round.

The event is being played as a two-day, two-site dual with the first round taking place at Bluefield's home course, Fincastle on the Mountain while Sunday's round will be played at Glenrochie Country Club.

Emory & Henry Team
- Sophomore Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) leads the Wasps after shooting a 71 (+1) to sit in third place while senior Avery Alexander (Christiansburg, Va.) is tied for seventh at 75 (+5).
- Junior Alex Boone (Clyde, N.C.) carded a +7 (77) and is 12th while junior Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) and freshman Sam Fansler (Moneta, Va.) are tied for 13th at 78 (+8).

Emory & Henry Individuals
- Sophomore Jordan Kuang Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) is tied for third with a 71 (+1) while freshman Owen Bright (Roanoke, Va.) is tied for fifth at 74 (+4).
- Freshman Brice Reichard (Amherst, Va.) turned in a 76 (+6) and is tied for ninth while freshman Ryne Bond (Floyd, Va.) carded a +10 (80) and is tied for 15th.
- Junior Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) shot an 82 (+12) and junior Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) turned in an 89 (+19) and are 17th and 18th, respectively.

The Leaders
- As a team, E&H shot a 301 (+21) and is 13 strokes behind Bluefield (288; +8).
- BU's Jacob Mitchell is the only player under par after firing a 69 (-1) to lead teammate Eetu Kilpinen by one shot (70; E).
