Bluefield Men’s Golf Defeats Emory & Henry By Two Strokes In Fincastle/Glenrochie Challenge Sunday

ABINGDON, Va.  – The Emory & Henry College and Bluefield University Men's Golf Teams completed the Fincastle/Glenrochie Challenge on Sunday. The event was played as a two-day, two-site dual with Saturday's first round taking place at Bluefield's home course, Fincastle on the Mountain. Sunday's round was played at Glenrochie Country Club.

Despite a strong charge by the Wasps on their home course, the Rams came away with the victory by two strokes, 596-598.

Emory & Henry Team
- Sophomore Slade Aliff (Hardy, Va.) shot one under on Sunday to finish the tournament at even par (71-71 – 142) in second place with senior Avery Alexander (Christiansburg, Va.) in third place at +5 (75-72 – 147).
- Junior Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) tied for ninth overall, shooting a 76 (+4) on Sunday to end the tournament at +12 (78-76 – 154). Freshman Sam Fansler (Moneta, Va.) carded a 78 for the second day in a row to tie for 12th at +14 (78-78 – 156).
- Junior Alex Boone (Clyde, N.C.) rounded out the team with a +11 (83) as he took 16th overall at +18 (77-83 – 160).

Emory & Henry Individuals
- Sophomore Jordan Kuang Kyaw (Yangon, MYANMAR) finished fifth at +8 after carding a 79 (+7) on Sunday as freshmen Brice Reichard (Amherst, Va.) and Owen Bright (Roanoke, Va.) tied for sixth at +10 with second rounds of 76 (+4) and 78 (+6), respectively.
- Junior Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) posted a 74 (+2) on Sunday to move up five places into a tie for 12th place while freshman Ryne Bond (Floyd, Va.) finished 17th at +20 (80-82 - 162) and junior Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) was 18th at +31 (89-84 – 173).

The Winners
- E&H had a two-day team total of 598 (+30), going four shots better than Saturday's round with a 297 on Sunday.
- BU added 20 strokes to its total on Sunday, shooting a 308. The Rams came in just under the Wasps at 596 (+28).
- Bluefield's Jacob Mitchell won the tournament at -3 (69-70 – 139) by three strokes over Aliff who was even par 71-71 – 142.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the D&E Battle at Brunswick. The tournament will be hosted by Davis & Elkins College at Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort in Calabash, North Carolina.
