
HARTWELL, Ga. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Golf Team got the spring portion of their season started on Monday and Tuesday at the Sherman B. Smith Memorial, finishing 13th as a team. The tournament was hosted by Emmanuel (Ga.) University and held at Cateechee Ranch in Hartwell, Georgia.

Round One
Sophomore Brice Reichard (Amherst, Va.) shot a +8 (80) in the first round to sit tied for 45th place while senior Jhon Ojeda (Cali, COLOMBIA) carded an 81 (+9) which put him tied for 51st.
Senior Peerapol Huangching (Rayong, THAILAND) shot an 88 (+16) for the opening 18 holes, tying for 73rd as senior Alex Boone (Clyde, N.C.) was tied for 76th at +17 (89). Senior Trent Gehringer (Fleetwood, Pa.) sat in 82nd place with a 92 (+20).
Round Two
Ojeda shot a -1 (71) in the second round to leap 19 places into a tie for 32nd place at +8 (152) to tie for the largest jump in the field. Reichard fell one spot into a tie for 46th after shooting a 78 (+6) to finish at +14 (158) as Huangching notched a +4 (76) to move up nine places in to a tie for 64th overall at +20 (164).
Boone shot a +13 (85) in the second round to drop one spot into 77th (+30; 174) as Gehringer moved up four places with a second round of 74 (+12) to finish tied for 78th at +32 (176).
The Winners
University of North Georgia's "B Team" won the tournament at -4 (291-281 – 572) by one stroke over Lenoir-Rhyne University (-3). Catawba College was the third-place team at +5.
UNG's Maddox Drake was the individual champion at -4 (72-68 – 140), beating Holt Allison from LR by one shot (72-69 – 141).

Emory & Henry returns to action on Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18 at the Stitch Golf Sandhills Flyers Spring Invitational. The tournament will be hosted by Sandhills Community College at Longleaf Golf & Family Center in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
