
EMORY, Va. – The Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Lacrosse Team (1-1) picked up a non-conference victory over Emory & Henry University (0-4) inside the Food City Sports Complex Monday afternoon. The Redhawks tallied 11 first-half goals on their way to the 17-1 win.

How It Happened
- Roberts Wesleyan began the match on the front foot as the visitors from Rochester, New York scored six times in the opening period for the 6-0 lead. The Redhawks recorded the first three goals of the second period to increase their margin, but the Wasps broke up the rally at the 3:07 mark. Freshman attacker Collin Shell (Blountville, Tenn.) barged his way through a group of RWU defenders and buried a shot past the goalie for his fourth goal of the year to get E&H on the board. Roberts Wesleyan scored twice more to take an 11-1 lead into the halftime break.
- It was all Redhawks in the second half as they scored twice in the third period and four more times in the fourth period as they earned the victory by a 17-1 final margin.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Shell had the lone goal for the Wasps on six shots while freshman attacker Dakotah Hawkins (Roanoke, Va.) fired a team-high 12 shots and scooped up a ground ball. Freshman face-off Jaxon Blackshear (Hedgesville, W.Va.) went 7-for-21 at the face-off dot and recorded a team-high five ground balls.
- Freshman defender Michael Wyman (Manassas, Va.) caused a pair of turnovers and had a pair of ground balls. Freshman defender Kyle Dyott (Easton, Md.) had five ground balls while forcing a turnover. Freshman midfielder David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.), freshman defender Aidan DiBari (Union, Ky.) and freshman midfielder Caleb Mims (Kingsport, Tenn.) all finished with a pair of ground balls.
- Freshman goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) registered 14 saves in the first half while fellow freshman Julian Pantoja (Vinton, Va.) had eight saves in relief in the second half.
Roberts Wesleyan Individual Leaders
- Ryan Brown posted a match-high four goals while adding two assists, three ground balls and forcing a turnover. Chase Wilson had three goals and an assist with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Liam Linden scooped up six ground balls and forced a match-high four turnovers while Isaac Marrero had a match-high seven ground balls.
- Garrett Kayser made six saves in 45 minutes of play to earn the win while Landon Brimmer added eight saves in relief.
