No. 20 Catawba Men’s Lacrosse Downs Emory & Henry, 22-1, In SAC Tilt Saturday

SALISBURY, N.C. – The No. 20 nationally-ranked Catawba College Men's Lacrosse Team (6-0, 2-0 SAC) showed why it is one of the top teams in the country Saturday, as the Catawba Indians defeated Emory & Henry University (0-6, 0-2 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play. Catawba downed the Wasps by a 22-1 margin.

How It Happened
- The home team scored early and often to begin the game as the Catawba Indians ran out to a 9-0 lead at the end of the opening period. Catawba tallied the first goal of the second period, but the Wasps broke up the run at the 10:50 mark when freshman attacker Collin Shell (Blountville, Tenn.) found fellow freshman attacker Dakotah Hawkins (Roanoke, Va.), who beat the goalie for his eighth score of the year to make it 10-1. CC would go on to add three more goals to take a 13-1 advantage into the half.
- Catawba tallied six more unanswered goals in the third, as they saw their lead balloon out to 19-1 heading into the final period of play. The Catawba Indians would tack on three more scores in the fourth period as they earned the 22-1 win. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Hawkins recorded the lone goal of the afternoon for Emory & Henry on four shots while sophomore midfielder Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) had three shots and a ground ball. Freshman attacker David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.) fired a pair of shots and scooped up three ground balls.
- Freshman defender Isaiah Ward (Fredericksburg, Va.) forced a pair of turnovers and grabbed a pair of ground balls. Fellow freshman defender Kyle Dyott (Easton, Md.) added two caused turnovers and had a ground ball. Freshman faceoff Jaxon Blackshear (Hedgesville, W.Va.) won seven duels at the dot and had four ground balls for the Wasps.
- Freshman goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) registered 21 saves in net and collected four ground balls. 

Catawba Individual Leaders
- Frank Cetrone had a game-high four goals and an assist while Michael Lindsey, Devin Trzeciak and Tanner Stout all went for three goals apiece.
- Brady Gauntner, Ben LoPiccolo and Tyler Ahlvers split time in goal and combined for a save in the win for Catawba.

- Emory & Henry is back at home on Monday, March 10 when the Wasps step out of conference play to host the Lions of Emmanuel (Ga.) University. Face-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex
