
NEWBERRY, S.C. – The No. 19 nationally-ranked Newberry College Men's Lacrosse Team (5-3, 2-0 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry University (0-8, 0-3 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon. The Wolves scored 12 first-period goals and cruised to the 27-1 victory.

How It Happened
- The Wolves wasted no time as they jumped on the Wasps early, tallying 12 goals in the opening period and six more in the second frame to take a 20-0 advantage into the halftime break.
- Newberry added to its lead in the third period as the Wolves scored twice more to run their margin out to 22-0. The Wasps broke up the streak to begin the fourth period when sophomore midfielder Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) scored his first career goal to get E&H on the board. NC would go on to tack on five more scores to earn the 27-1 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Swanson recorded the lone goal of the afternoon for the Wasps on three shots while collecting one ground ball and causing one turnover. Freshman midfielder David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.) fired four shots and scooped up a pair of ground balls while causing one turnover.
- Freshman goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) finished with 16 saves in net. Buttery also picked up a ground ball and caused three turnovers.
Newberry Individual Leaders
- Shane Halliwell led the Wolves with six goals on seven shots. Liam Vollans added three goals and an assist while 18 other Newberry players registered one goal each.
- Six different goalies combined for five saves to earn the win.

- Emory & Henry is on the road again next Wednesday, March 19 when the Wasps take on the Lions of Mars Hill University. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Mars Hill, N.C..
