
GAFFNEY, S.C. – The No. 3 nationally-ranked Limestone University Men's Lacrosse Team (12-1, 7-0 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry University (0-12, 0-7 SAC) in a South Atlantic Conference tussle Saturday afternoon. The Saints established a 14-1 halftime advantage on their way to the 22-3 victory.

How It Happened
- Limestone recorded eight goals in the opening period of play and five more to begin the second period as they ran out to a 13-0 lead. The Wasps got on the board at the 2:56 mark of the second when freshman midfielder David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.) scored an unassisted goal, his fifth of the season, to decrease the deficit to 13-1. LU would add one more goal before the half for the 14-1 margin heading into the break.
- The Saints tallied the first two goals of the second half, but E&H responded with 1:20 remaining in the third period when sophomore midfielder Jackson Swanson (Salem, Va.) struck for his fourth score of the season to make it 16-2. Limestone saw their lead grow to 21-2 in the fourth until freshman attacker Collin Shell (Blountville, Tenn.) beat the goalie for his 10th of the year to cut the margin to 21-3. The home team would add one more goal before the final buzzer to take the win by the 22-3 scoreline.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Mewes, Swanson and Shell all finished with a goal while freshman faceoff Jaxon Blackshear (Hedgesville, W.Va.) won six duels at the dot, scooping up three ground balls.
- Freshman defender Isaiah Ward (Fredericksburg, Va.), freshman midfielder Gabe Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.) and freshman defender Michael Wyman (Manassas, Va.) all finished with a pair of ground balls.
- Freshman goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) made 12 saves in net to increase his SAC-leading season total to 159 and picked up five ground balls. Fellow freshman Julian Pantoja (Vinton, Va.) registered eight saves with a pair of ground balls in relief.
Limestone Individual Leaders
- Camden Moody went for a game-high three goals, two assists, two ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. AJ Carlo, Owen Palmer, Mathias Oslund, Sam Messer and Ellis York all finished with two goals each.
- Seven different goalies split time in net for the Saints, recording five total saves in the win.

- The Wasps are back at home next Friday, April 11 when they host the Cobras of Coker University. Faceoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. as game one of a doubleheader with the women's team.
