
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Lacrosse Team (0-14, 0-9 SAC) dropped its final South Atlantic Conference road contest of the 2025 season to Tusculum University (5-11, 1-9 SAC) Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers earned the win by a 20-8 final tally.

How It Happened
- The Pioneers scored the first four goals of the contest to establish an early lead, but the Wasps put an end to the run when freshman attacker Collin Shell (Blountville, Tenn.) scored unassisted to cut away at the deficit. After another Tusculum goal, freshman attacker Dakotah Hawkins (Roanoke, Va.) got in on the scoring with his own unassisted tally. TU would tack on one more score to take a 6-2 lead into the second period.
- The home squad continued to push out their lead to begin the second frame as they scored four straight to push the margin out to 10-2. The Wasps struck back at the 9:25 mark as freshman midfielder David Mewes (Greenville, S.C.) scored unassisted and Shell followed two and a half minutes later with a solo goal to chip away at the deficit and make it 10-4. The Pioneers would add three more scores to take a 13-4 advantage into the half.
- Tusculum saw their lead reach 12 as they recorded the first three scores of the second half. Mewes found the back of the net once again with 4:02 left in the third on a helper from fellow freshman midfielder Gabe Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.). One more goal from the Pioneers set the score at 17-5 heading into the final stanza.
- TU registered the first three scores to open the final period of play as they saw their lead reach its largest of the game at 20-15. Hawkins finished the game with a flurry as he posted three unassisted, unanswered goals in the final five minutes of play to bring the margin to its final at 20-8.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Hawkins finished with four goals and a pair of ground balls while Mewes added two goals, five ground balls and caused a turnover. Shell contributed two goals for the Wasps.
- Freshman faceoff Jaxon Blackshear (Hedgesville, W.Va.) had a team-high eight ground balls while freshman defender Noah Parrish (Manassas, Va.) added six ground balls of his own.
- Freshman goalie Mason Buttery (Carmel, Ind.) made 17 saves in net to increase his SAC-leading season total to 186.
Tusculum Individual Leaders
- Ben Royer went for a game-high five goals, six assists, five ground balls and a caused turnover. Luke Bowen added four goals, six assists and a pair of ground balls while Will Nuzzo had three goals, one assist and one ground ball.
- Brenden Pecora, Garrett Smith and Alex Germain combined for 16 saves in goal to earn the win for the Pioneers.

- The Wasps wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, April 23 when they host the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University. Faceoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. as the second half of a doubleheader with the women's team.
