Piedmont Men’s Soccer Slips By Emory & Henry, 1-0, Sunday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Piedmont College Men's Soccer Team (1-3) picked up its first win of the season Sunday afternoon as it defeated Emory & Henry College (1-5) by a 1-0 score at Fred Selfe Stadium.

After the Wasps dominated the first 15 minutes of play, the Lions got the lone goal of the match at the 24:30 mark as Waldyr Pierre-Louis found Franklin Robinson in front of the goal mouth with a pass that he struck past the keeper.

Piedmont would have three other chances in the half but they were turned away by freshman Joe Kedanis (Carmel, Ind.). E&H was never able to get its offensive attack established and played much of the contest in its own defensive third. Kedanis finished the contest with six saves.

Five different Wasps received cautions as the team fought late to equalize with a goal but were unable to break through.

The Lions held a 13-3 advantage on shots and a 4-2 margin on corner kicks but were called offside on five different occasions.

Emory & Henry will travel to Virginia Beach for its next match as it enters Old Dominion Athletic Conference play against Virginia Wesleyan College next Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
