EMORY, Va. – The Roanoke College Men's Soccer Team (6-1, 2-0 ODAC) picked up a 3-0 victory over Emory & Henry College (1-7, 0-2 ODAC) Wednesday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play at Fred Selfe Stadium.
The Maroons controlled play for much of the night but the Wasps' defense was able to turn away many of the attacks before they became dangerous. Roanoke got its first goal early in the 18th minute of the contest as Garrett Eldridge played a ball down the middle that Robby Lentine finished to the left side of the goal.
Just over 20 minutes later, RC made the score 2-0. Brian White was able to settle a rebound off of the E&H goalkeeper and placed it in the back of the net. White tallied another goal at the 43:20 mark when he took a pass from Marc Dinkel and dribbled into the 18 yard box, where he then took the shot.
While neither side was able to score during the second 45 minutes of play, Emory & Henry looked much more solid in the midfield and was able to possess the ball for more extended periods of time.
E&H freshman goalkeeper Joe Kedanis (Carmel, Ind.) made two saves in the match and also was able to clear out several Roanoke crosses which could have ended up as chances on goal. Senior midfielder Zach James (Stephens City, Va.) had three shots for the Wasps.
Roanoke held an 18-4 advantage on shots but was only able to put five of its attempts on frame. The Maroons had six corner kicks to the Wasps' three, but were called offside on seven different occasions.
Emory & Henry will host Randolph-Macon College on Saturday afternoon in ODAC action. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
