No. 16 Randolph Men’s Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-0, Tuesday Evening

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 16 Randolph College Men's Soccer Team (12-0-1, 7-0 ODAC) remained undefeated on the year with a 2-0 victory over Emory & Henry College (2-13, 1-6 ODAC) Tuesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference Play.

The nationally-ranked WildCats did not have a walk in the park on their hands with the Wasps as the two teams went into the half scoreless. Randolph had 19 shots in the first half but were only able to put three of them on frame.

Just 1:45 into the second half, Randolph earned a corner kick. After the kick was deflected in the box, Corey Sindle collected the ball and placed it past the goalkeeper to put the WildCats on the board.

RC made it 2-0 late in the 53rd minute as Jacob Lusczek found Sindle in the middle of the box with a low cross that he slotted home.

The Emory & Henry defense would hold for the remainder of the match and keep the score at 2-0 against the toughest team it has faced all season. Randolph was called offside on seven different occasions during the contest.

Though the WildCats finished the match with 40 shots compared to just six for the Wasps, they were only able to put 12 on frame. E&H freshman goalkeeper Didier Grillett (Matthews, N.C.) made 10 saves despite allowing the two goals.

Wasp freshman Zach Quest (Charlotte, N.C.) had a pair of shots on goal while sophomores Pierce Moreland (Bristol, Tenn.) and Tory Schneider (Williamsburg, Va.) each managed a chance on frame.

Randolph's Carter Smith had four saves in the contest, picking up the shutout win.

Emory & Henry will return home on Saturday evening for a 7:00 p.m., ODAC matchup with Guilford College. The contest will be a part of the College's annual Homecoming festivities.
