EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's and Women's Soccer Teams will open the home portion of their seasons by hosting the inaugural Emory & Henry Invitational Tournament this weekend. The three-day, six-match, six-team event will each team play a pair of matches against non-conference competition.

"We are excited to be hosting our first tournament as a tandem this weekend," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Linda Schirmeister-Gess. "It shows how far our programs have come, growing together and striving for excellence. We are ecstatic to get to both compete and support our counterparts"

Emory & Henry's teams will play on Friday evening and early Sunday. The Friday schedule sees the Wasp men opening the event with a 5:00 p.m. matchup with the Bluefield College Rams. The E&H women will play Covenant College at 7:30 p.m., Friday evening.

"We could not ask for a better weekend to kick off our season at home," continued Gess. "Playing at home is an honor as we have such a great fan base, and we look forward to starting our homestand off here with a great weekend of competition."

Saturday's play includes a women's match between Covenant and Marymount University at 3:00 p.m., and a 5:30 p.m., men's contest between Bluefield and William Peace University.

The tournament will wrap up on Sunday. Emory & Henry's women will take the field at 11:00 a.m., against Marymount while the men will follow at 1:00 p.m., against William Peace.

All six contests will feature live stats while the four matches involving Emory & Henry will be broadcast on the GoWasps.com E-Cast. Links to both live stats and the video stream can be found on the schedule below. Box Scores will be available at the conclusion of each match.
