EMORY, Va. – The Maryville (Tenn.) College Men's Soccer Team (1-0) scored four goals in the opening 45 minutes en route to a 7-0 win over Emory & Henry College (0-1) Tuesday night at Fred Selfe Stadium.

E&H had the first chance of the game as junior midfielder Zach Quest (Charlotte, N.C.) put up a strong shot early in the fourth minute. Freshman midfielder Trey Tumblin (Moneta, Va.) also put a shot on frame late in the first half but it was turned away.

The Scots got on the board early in the 13th minute when Cody VanKerschaever one-timed a pass from Hayden Puryear from the top of the box past the goalkeeper. Maryville made it 2-0 just under five minutes later as Puryear headed in a corner kick from Thomas Whiting.

Two more goals came for Maryville later in the half as it took a 4-0 advantage into the break. The Scots added three second half goals including a left-to-right cross from George Davies to Bret Thomas which he slotted to the back post late with just over 12 minutes to play.
