Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Blanks Valley Forge, 6-0, For First Win Of The Season

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team (1-2-1) picked up its first win of the 2015 campaign Friday afternoon as it defeated the University of Valley Forge (0-4) by a 6-0 margin. The six goals scored by the Wasps were the most since they lit up the scoreboard for 11 against Pikeville College in the 2006 season.

E&H got on the board late in the 13th minute when sophomore forward Jordan Couch (Abingdon, Va.) took a pass from senior forward Pierce Moreland (Bristol, Tenn.) and put it past an ill-prepared goalkeeper.

The Wasps doubled their lead five and a half minutes later when Moreland got his second score of the season. He was assisted on the play by sophomore forward Chandler Hundman (Abingdon, Va.) and Couch.

Just 2:02 before the half, Emory & Henry extended its lead to 3-0. Freshman forward Tyequis Stallins (Chesapeake, Va.) took a pass from freshman Nickolas Taylor (Portsmouth, Va.) and slotted it into the goal.

With 18 minutes left to go in the match, the Wasps put another score on the board as Hundman tallied an unassisted goal. Five minutes later, E&H made it 5-0 when Stallins netted his second score of the contest.

Couch capped off the scoring at the 82:01 mark, going one-on-one with the goal keeper for the final 6-0 margin.

Emory & Henry held a 27-7 advantage on shots including a 19-4 margin on shots on goal. The Wasps led 6-4 on corner kicks and were called offside six different times.

Wasp junior goalkeeper Didier Grillet (Matthews, N.C.) made four saves as he earned the clean sheet. UVF's Alan Verone notched 13 saves despite the loss.

Emory & Henry will be back in action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when it faces off against Cairn University.
