LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University Men's Soccer Team (5-2-1, 3-0 ODAC) scored a pair of goals in the second half en route to a 6-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over visiting Emory & Henry College (2-4-2, 0-2-1 ODAC) at Watt Field.
The Generals got on the board in the 28th minute when Patrick Barry served up a ball for Reeves Duggan, who placed it in the back of the net. W&L made it 2-0 six minutes later as Kevin Lencioni's corner kick found the head of David Cohen.
After the break, Emory & Henry had an early chance to get on the board and earned three corner kicks in a matter of 50 seconds, but the Washington and Lee defense maintained the clean sheet.
Just after the hour mark, the Generals added two goals in a period of 87 seconds to go up 4-0. Ben Bayles scored at the 65:03 mark with Will Hamryka earning the assist. Hamryka turned around and immediately scored a goal of his own thanks to an assist by James Brady.
W&L's Mason Billings assisted on the fifth and sixth goals of the match, finding Patrick Barry and Miles Bent in the final 10 minutes of play for the 6-0 result.
The Generals held a 31-8 advantage on shots including a 14-5 margin on shots on goal. Washington and Lee also led 12-4 on corner kicks while both teams were called offside once early in the second half.
Emory & Henry junior goalkeeper Didier Grillet (Matthews, N.C.) made five saves in 80 minutes in goal despite the setback while sophomore forwards Chandler Hundman (Abingdon, Va.) and Jordan Couch (Abingdon, Va.) each had a pair of shots on goal.
The Wasps are scheduled to return to action on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., with an ODAC contest at Hampden-Sydney College.
