FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College sophomore forward Jordan Couch has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday.
It is the second time this season that an Emory & Henry player has earned weekly honors from the league. Freshman forward Tyequis Stallins (Chesapeake, Va.) was selected as player of the week on September 14 after scoring three times in a pair of non-conference wins.
Couch, a native of Abingdon, Virginia found the back of the net three times and assisted on the Wasps' fourth goal of the week. The transfer from Guilford College scored both goals for Emory & Henry in the Wasps' 2-1 win over the Quakers at home Wednesday night. He got E&H on the board just 3:28 into the contest and added the eventual match-winner in the 52nd minute.
Saturday evening versus Shenandoah, Couch leveled the score at a goal apiece 12 minutes in and provided the assist on Jimmy Wilmouth's (Forest, Va.) goal with 10:09 to play, forcing overtime and the eventual 2-2 draw.
Couch currently leads the team with six goals and 15 points on the year which is also tied for the lead amongst ODAC players. His two match-winners is tied for second in the conference.
Emory & Henry (4-4-3, 2-2-2 ODAC) will next take the field on Friday when it hosts Roanoke College at 6:30 p.m., at Fred Selfe Stadium.
