Bridgewater Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Emory & Henry, 3-0, Wednesday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Bridgewater College Men's Soccer Team (6-7-1, 3-5 ODAC) made it four wins in its last five matches with a 3-0 victory over Emory & Henry College (4-7-3, 2-4-2 ODAC) Wednesday evening at Fred Selfe Stadium.

After a scoreless first 30 minutes of play, the Eagles got on the board at the 37:06 mark when Connor Henderson took a pass from Logan McGlynn and slotted it past the goalkeeper. Bridgewater tallied 15 shots in the opening period en route to a 1-0 advantage at the half.

BC made the score 2-0 late in the 50th minute when Renato Grgic found Ben Lewis with a pass to set up the goal.

Grgic tallied his second assist of the evening nine minutes later, connecting with Jonathan Min, who converted the goal to cap the scoring at 3-0 with just over 30 minutes left to play. Freshman forward Colin Foley (Chesapeake, Va.) led the Wasps with a trio of shots on the night while sophomore forward Jordan Couch (Abingdon, Va.) added a pair of shots.

The Eagles led the way with a 21-10 advantage on shots including an 11-4 margin on shots on goal. Emory & Henry took five corner kicks to BC's four but was unable to get its offense going.

Mark Davis picked up the shutout win for Bridgewater, stopping four shots while Emory & Henry junior goalkeeper Didier Grillet (Charlotte, N.C.) stopped eight shots despite the loss.

Emory & Henry will travel to Randolph College on Saturday afternoon for an ODAC matchup beginning at 4:00 p.m.
