Randolph Men’s Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 6-0, Saturday Afternoon

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College Men's Soccer Team (9-3-3, 6-0-3 ODAC) scored three goals in each half en route to a 6-0 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (4-8-3, 2-5-2 ODAC) Saturday afternoon at WildCat Stadium.

Randolph got on the board late in the seventh minute thanks to an own goal by the E&H defense as the ball deflected off a defender into the net. The WildCats made it 2-0 in the 20th minute on a goal by Blake Heatherly from Adam Watson, who put a cross to the top of the box where Heatherly one-timed it for his sixth score of the year.

Crisitan Irigoyen scored at the 39:59 mark of the first half with Joe Thames earning the assist for the 3-0 halftime lead.

Midway through the second half, RC pushed the score to 4-0. Blake Heatherly served a ball in that deflected off the head of Salvador Ramirez and to Sam Griffith who put it past the goalkeeper. Both Heatherly and Ramirez were credited with assists.

Ramirez eanred his second assist less than four minutes later when he fed Ryan Kyler, who chipped the ball over the goalkeeper, making the margin 5-0. Randolph finished things out with an unassisted goal by Julian Khalili in the 87th minute.

The WildCats held a 19-7 margin on shots including an 8-2 lead on shots on goal. Randolph also took eight corner kicks while E&H earned none.

C.J. Stevens earned the complete-game shutout in goal for Randolph, making two saves while Heatherly had six shots, two on goal, a goal and an assist to lead the WildCat offense.

Emory & Henry sophomore forward Jordan Couch (Abingdon, Va.) notched a team-high four shots, putting one on goal while freshman midfielder Lee Cutshaw (Chesapeake, Va.) had another shot on goal. Junior Didier Grillet (Matthews, N.C.) stopped two shots in 81 minutes of play.

Emory & Henry will remain on the road on Tuesday when it travels to Harrisonburg, Virginia to face off against Eastern Mennonite University. Kickoff between the Wasps and Royals is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
