EMORY, Va. – The Shenandoah University Men's Soccer Team (1-4-2, 1-3-2 ODAC) scored two goals in the opening 45 minutes on its way to a 3-0 win over Emory & Henry College (0-6, 0-6 ODAC) Monday evening.
The contest, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, was pushed back a day because of the severe thunderstorms which moved through Southwest Virginia.

How It Happened
- SU got on the board early in the 25th minute Christopher Wood crossed a ball down the end line. Zach Salazar put the ball in the back of the net with a spinning back-heel finish.
- The Hornets made it 2-0 at the break thanks to a goal from Pedro Flor as he cleaned up a rebound off a save from Braden Gallant's shot.
- Just after the hour mark, Shenandoah added an insurance goal for the 3-0 final margin. After winning a free kick near the corner flag, Salazar served up a ball into the center of the six-yard box for Nikolas Como to head into the top right corner of the goal.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior midfielder Bryce Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) had the Wasps' shot on goal while junior midfielder Ethan Taylor (Powhatan, Va.) and sophomore midfielder Ryan Boyette (Fredericksburg, Va.) also had chances.
- Sophomore Spencer Scott (Stephens City, Va.) made three saves in the opening 45 minutes as sophomore Derek Akers (Hiwassee, Va.) added a save in the second half.
Shenandoah Individual Leaders
- Salazar led the way with a goal and an assist as he tallied three shots on the evening. Gallant, Jack Meixner and Niclas Vavra all posted four shots
- Sam Fischer and Dylan Johnson shared the shutout in goal for the Hornets as Fischer made one save.
A Deeper Look
- Shenandoah held a 25-3 lead on shots in the game with a 7-1 margin on shots on goal.
- The Hornets took eight corner kicks over the course of the evening, while the Wasps had five.

- Emory & Henry close out the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Roanoke College on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The contest will also serve as Senior Day for the Wasps.
