Brevard Men’s Soccer Tops Emory & Henry, 2-1, Sunday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Brevard College Men's Soccer Team (4-1-1) broke open a scoreless contest with a pair of second half goals and held on for a 2-1 win at Emory & Henry College (1-4) Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Wasps and Tornados battled through the opening 45 minutes without either team able to find the back of the net. E&H junior goalkeeper Spencer Scott (Stephens City, Va.) made eight saves in the first half as Brevard had a 14-2 shot advantage.
- Just after the hour mark, BC's Estevan Berto found Adam Spencer with a pass at the top of the box as he one-timed it to the back of the net at the left post.
- The Tornados made it 2-0 in the 83rd minute. Trystan Wallace played a ball to the top of the penalty area from the left side and Ryan Sinkamba hammered it home for the score.
- Emory & Henry spoiled the shutout with 3:17 left on the clock. After winning a free kick 30 yards away from goal, sophomore midfielder Louis Pereira-Scott (Glasgow, SCOTLAND) played a ball into the area which found the head of freshman midfielder Cesar Tobar Monge, Jr. (Charlotte, N.C.), who guided it into the back of the net.
- E&H had a final chance in the closing moments but the score line went down as 2-1.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior midfielder Nino Egli (Maseltrangen, SWITZERLAND) led the Wasps with four shots, putting one on target while freshman midfielder Malolan Veeravalli (Charlotte, N.C.) added a pair of chances.
- Scott played the full 90 minutes in goal, making 10 saves despite the loss.

Brevard Individual Leaders
- Ryan Lynch and Berto each had seven attempts in the contest while Sinkamba notched the match-winner on three shots on goal.
- Thiago Leopardi earned the win for the Tornados, playing the final 45 minutes between the pipes.

- Emory & Henry has a nine-day break before its next contest on Wednesday, September 29. The Wasps will visit the William Peace University Pacers at 7:00 p.m.
