DANBURY, Conn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team has seen one of its own honored by the ECAC as freshman defender Malolan Veeravalli (Charlotte, N.C.) was named ECAC Division II Men's Soccer Rookie of the Month for October.

The award comes as part of the College's partnership with the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference which provides additional opportunities for recognition and competition during the Wasps' process of reclassifying to NCAA Division II.

Veeravalli helped lead the Wasps to three wins during the month of October, scoring a pair of goals. He notched his first collegiate goal in an 8-2 win over Toccoa Falls College (Oct. 5) and added a go-ahead strike in the team's season-finale against Shaw University (Oct. 30).

For the year, Veeravalli finished tied for third on the team in goals scored and was the top-scoring defender on the squad. He also piloted the defense to three shutouts and an additional three games of allowing two or fewer goals. Emory & Henry posted a 4-10 record in 2021, with four of their losses coming by two or fewer goals.

Founded in 1938, the ECAC has more than 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions, stretching from Maine to Georgia to Missouri. Its mission is to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics, and provide great value for universities and colleges, by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments, and other competitions. Most of the ECAC's members also belong to another conference, which is often the school's primary conference.
