Lees-McRae Men’s Soccer Downs Emory & Henry, 7-0, Wednesday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Lees-McRae College Men's Soccer Team (1-1-1) opened up a 2-0 halftime lead on its way to a 7-0 win over Emory & Henry College (0-2) Wednesday evening in the Wasps' home-opener for 2022.

How It Happened
- The Bobcats got on the board in the third minute as Fletcher Dyson scored an unassisted goal. LMC made it 2-0 with just under 10 minutes to go before the break as Tamino Brown found Harrison Watts with a pass that he put in the back of the net.
- Just 40 seconds into the second half, Brown and Watts linked up again, going down the right side of the field to put Lees-McRae ahead, 3-0.  Watts earned his hat trick less than four minutes later, this time assisted by Alex Brahm.
- LMC tacked on its third goal in the opening 10 minutes of the second half as Daniel Garvilla found paydirt at the 54:29 mark for a 5-0 advantage.
- A score in the 62nd by Bryce Hamilton assisted by Jesper Jonsson and a converted penalty kick in the 77th by Ryan Aliam sealed the 7-0 victory for the Bobcats.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior midfielder Louis Pereira-Scott (Glasgow, SCOTLAND), freshman midfielder Yossi Burch (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman forward Jackson Hughes (Dandridge, Tenn.) all tallied shots on target for the Wasps.
- Senior goalkeeper Spencer Scott (Stephens City, Va.) made eight saves despite the loss.

Lees-McRae Individual Leaders
- Watts paced the Bobcats with three goals on four attempts with two assists coming from Brown. Aliam had a team-best five shots including a converted penalty kick.
- Joshua Garvilla earned the win in goal making a pair of saves in 67 minutes of action and combined with M.J. Upchurch (one save) for the shutout.
