Anderson Men’s Soccer Topples Emory & Henry, 3-1, Sunday In SAC Play

EMORY, Va. – The Anderson (S.C.) University Men's Soccer Team (2-6-1, 1-4-1 SAC) scored twice in the opening half on its way to a 3-1 win over Emory & Henry College in South Atlantic Conference play on Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Trojans got out to a 1-0 lead midway through the 16th minute as Juan Jose Alvarez scored an unassisted goal coming off of a recycled ball on a corner kick.
- Anderson made it 2-0 approximately 11 minutes later (26:28) when Andres Osorio found Lucas Goldberg with a pass through the defense and after a spin move, Goldberg finished in the bottom-left corner of the goal.
- Midway through the second half, AU pushed its margin to 3-0 thanks to a cross in from the left side by Osorio that hit a running Pablo Sanz in stride at the back post for the score.
- With 3:54 remaining in the contest, E&H spoiled the shutout when junior midfielder Louis Pereira-Scott (Glasgow, SCOTLAND) struck a free kick from 20 yards out on the left side  through the hands of the goalkeeper and into the back of the net for the 3-1 final margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Pereira-Scott had the lone goal for the Wasps, while sophomore midfielder Jado Masambeta (Uvira, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO) also tallied a shot on target. Senior forward Nino Egli (Maseltrangen, SWITZERLAND) also posted an attempt from his forward position in his first action of the year.
- Senior goalkeeper Spencer Scott (Stephens City, Va.) played the entire 90 minutes in net, stopping nine shots despite the loss.

Anderson (S.C.) Individual Leaders
- Alvarez led all players with seven shots, putting four attempts on frame in scoring his goal while Jordan Lester notched four chances with three going on target.
- Osorio notched a pair of assists from his position in the midfield.
- Amos Uber took care of the Trojans' goalkeeping duties with one save on his way to the win.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will visit No. 11 Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for a SAC matchup. The contest will be the second of a doubleheader between the Wasps and Bears with the women taking the field at 5:00 p.m.
